Prepare Your Hearts - Advent Day 1

“He will prepare the people for the coming of the Lord. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and he will cause those who are rebellious to accept the wisdom of the godly.” -Luke 1:16-17 (NLT)

We Celebrate because... Before Jesus was born, God sent a prophet, John the Baptist, to help prepare the Israelite people for the coming Messiah. John challenged the Israelites to repent of their sins, pray for God’s forgiveness, and be baptized. During the season of Advent, we too can prepare our hearts for Jesus’ coming as we intentionally seek Him.

Challenge: 1. Today, follow John the Baptist’s example. Prepare your heart for Christmas by repenting of any sins weighing on you, and asking God’s forgiveness. 2. Take the next opportunity at your church to GET BAPTIZED! :)

Prayer God, thank you for sending Your son so that we can love you more every day. This advent season, help me be faithful to prepare my heart for Jesus’ coming. Amen.
